Directions to the prison

From the A71:
Follow signs for West Calder and then Addiewell. Continue along Station Road - HMP Addiewell is signposted.

From the M8:
Take Junction 4 (Whitburn/Bathgate) and follow signs into Whitburn, then Addiewell. Once in Addiewell, turn onto Station Road and follow it to the end - the prison is clearly signposted.

The nearest station is Addiewell, on the Edinburgh–Glasgow via Shotts line. The prison is around a 10–15 minute walk from the station. Turn right as you leave the station and follow Station Road to the end - HMP Addiewell is clearly signposted.

Regular local bus services run from Livingston, Bathgate, and West Calder to Addiewell. Most buses stop near the junction of Station Road. From there, it’s roughly a 10-minute walk along Station Road to the prison entrance.
