Concerned about a prisoner?
If you have any concerns about the welfare of a person in custody at HMP Addiewell, please contact us on 01506 874 500 and select option 9.
The line is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Your call will be transferred to a member of staff and answered as a priority. Please provide as much detail as you can when reporting your concern.
What happens next
Staff will meet with the individual, let them know a concern has been raised, discuss it, and check they are not at risk of causing harm to themselves.
The individual may then be supported via Talk To Me, the Scottish Prison Service’s suicide prevention strategy, which means they will receive agreed support and be checked on at regular intervals.
If the individual is not considered at risk of suicide, they may still be provided with other appropriate support, such as through a referral to the mental health team or other services.
