Education and skills

Supporting positive futures
At Sodexo, we have been running prisons in the UK for 30 years and are committed to rehabilitating offenders, treating those in our care with dignity and providing opportunities for purposeful activity. Our employment, education and rehabilitation services give them the skills, qualifications and support to lead law-abiding lives in their community on release.
Working in partnership with external organisations across a variety of sectors, we are creating learning opportunities that enable prisoners to develop knowledge and skills that will help to lead to employment on release.
HMP Addiewell offers 40 hours of purposeful activity per prisoner, per week and is divided into three main areas.
Education and skills
Prisoners have the opportunity to learn new skills and gain recognised qualifications that can help them secure employment upon release.
Employment
Our Workrite Employability Programme focusses on ensuring prisoners are interview and job-ready. On completion of the programme, prisoners are introduced to a partner who can provide support into employment after they are released.
Programmes
Offending Behaviour Programmes (OBPs) are courses to help people in prison change how they think, feel and behave so that they won’t re-offend in the future.
